The Hollow Victory of Success
My name is Simon Farrell.
I co-owned and ran a large brand design consultancy in Edinburgh for over ten years. In that time I oversaw pitches that won £10m of new business income, I managed a team of 45 people, we hit profit targets in 10 out of 11 years, I was on the board of DBA, and won countless creative and effectiveness awards.
From the outside, it looked like the perfect story of creative business success.
From the inside, it was costing me everything. My sense of freedom. My confidence. My creative edge. Eventually, it cost me my health and my job.
I was so focused on business success I missed the most obvious thing;
What’s the point of being successful if getting there feels terrible.
The turning point didn’t come in the form of a better strategy. It came in a different way of seeing things. New perspectives about myself, my business, and my relationship with success.
That shift took years to fully embed and understand. But now it’s here I’ve been able to put it into a form so I can offer it to others.

Addressing a specific business or personal challenge that is troubling you right now and that you can't see a clear way through. This is the most focused and contained form of the work. It’s a defined engagement around a defined problem. Sometimes the most useful thing is not a long programme, but the right quality of attention applied to the right question at the right moment. All done in a grounded and connected manner.

THE ALIGNED CREATIVE
LEADER PROGRAMME
The Aligned Creative Business Leader is the flagship 12-week, leadership reorientation experience.
It is not group coaching. It is not traditional strategy guidance. It is not growth consultancy. It is structured founder alignment work; delivered through deep 1:1 engagement, weekly Zoom calls and monthly in-person sessions.
The programme works through three phases, each building on the last:
PHASE 1
INNER ALIGNMENT
Grounded Leadership
Personal Identity · Weeks 1–4
We begin with you. Because until there's genuine separation between your identity and purpose, and the business's performance, you can't see the real issues clearly.
We work on clarifying who you are as a person beyond the business role. Reducing the emotional volatility tied to monthly numbers. Building a steadier internal foundation — a state of being which we call ‘felt groundedness’.
Outcome: You can run the business without being consumed by it.
PHASE 2
OUTER ALIGNMENT
Business Clarity
Business Identity · Weeks 5–8
With that personal foundation established, we turn to the business itself. Not as a strategy problem but as a living system with its own identity, purpose, and genuine needs.
We work on understanding what the business actually is, what it has of value, what it needs to be healthy, and how it relates to its ecosystem. This is sharpening perspectives more than strategic planning.
Outcome: A clear view of what your business needs to remain healthy.
PHASE 3
CREATIVE TENSION
Inspired Decision Making
Reality vs Story · Weeks 9–12
Finally, we work directly with the live decisions you're facing to move forward. Separating fact from story. Holding the creative tension of an envisioned future, the reality of resources available, the clarity of your business needs as well as your own personal inner needs.
Decisions made from this space feel steady rather than strained. These are ‘inspired decisions’ that emerge by holding the creative tension. They are not strategic nor reactive, but grounded.
Outcome: Leadership that feels lighter, more alive and more purposeful.
The Resonance Circle
At the heart of the Aligned Creative Leader Programme is a framework called The Resonance Circle. All frameworks and models are wrong, but some are useful. And this model helps us to capture four important truths;
Your personal identity as a leader is separate from that of the business.
There is an alignment task for you to do personally and an alignment task for the business to do collectively. The two are separate but connected.
Understanding the reality of your situation versus the stories you tell yourself helps build calm clarity about how to move towards your envisioned future.
Bearing creative tension is part of the leaders role. Holding on to toxic stress is not. Being clear about the distinction is vitally important.
Another Way Conversations
An opportunity to hear from Creative Business Leaders who have experienced Another Way. Listen to their thoughts on the programme, the benefits they experienced and what leading from the inside out means to them.
HOW IT WORKS
All coaching engagements are delivered through two types of engagement ; weekly remote sessions and monthly in-person deep-dives. These are combined with workbooks, personal reflections and applied to real live business decisions.
Weekly 1:1 Leadership Sessions
One hour per week via Zoom. Each session uses the proprietary ‘Resonance Circle’ as a guiding framework to bring your current live challenges into the process, unearthing what it’s telling us, and deciding where the real work needs to be applied.
Monthly In-Person Deep-Dives
Half a day, in-person. These are the sessions where the deeper work happens. The kind of honest conversation that a screen doesn't fully allow. They are scheduled at the transition points between each programme phase.
Reflection Frameworks & Between-Session Application
Structured written workbook assignments and frameworks sent between sessions. These are designed to be worked with in the context of challenges you're currently facing. This is not homework, per se. It is application. It’s the practice of using the ‘Resonance Circle’ tool and the principles you’ll be learning on the live issues of your business.
Limited to a handful of founders at any one time.
This is not a scalable product. My approach to coaching is an intimate, high-attention engagement. I’m limiting the number of businesses I can work with because the quality of the work required to deliver it.

What this is not
Before we go further, it's worth being clear about what this programme is designed to do. And what it isn't.
After working with this programme, you may find that, over time, sales improve. New business arises more naturally. Your systems work better. Your clients feel the difference in the quality of the work. These are real and welcome outcomes, but they are not the primary goal of the programme. They are the result of something deeper: a leader who is more aligned within themselves, and a business that is operating in greater harmony with its wider ecosystem.
This programme works at that deeper level. It is not explicitly concerned with growth strategy, process improvement, or culture development. It exists to address what sits beneath all of that; the quality of attention, clarity, and inner coherence that a founder brings to their business.
